First of all, BREATHE!  It will all be fine.  In fact, it will end up being perfect even though it doesn’t feel like it right now.  If you bought your dress from New Beginnings Bridal Studio and need to hear a reassuring voice, call us.  You are not the first person who has had a size fluctuation and you certainly won’t be the last.  It’s going to be ok!  Secondly, let’s determine what needs to happen next.

When your dress comes in, you may have 2 or 3 months before your wedding day.  That’s a good thing!  Maybe you decide to eat a few more bacon cheeseburgers or have a few less!  If health conditions allow, you have a bit of time to make some changes if need be.  There are circumstances though when dress orders come in with not much time cushion, so alterations will be the fix you’re counting on.

If your measurements have gone down in size and you feel like you will be swimming in your fitted wedding gown, you won’t.  Especially when you have access to an incredible seamstress.  We have seen skilled seamstresses do wonders with minimizing sizes, so trust these incredible professionals.  They know what they’re doing, and you won’t believe your eyes when you see your dress after being in these capable hands!

Professional seamstresses (aka “Miracle Workers”!) are also the most important play makers when the opposite happens.  If your measurements go up in size, they have many tricks up their sleeves to help you look beautiful in your bridal gown.  They may have to make adjustments that change the original design slightly, but usually all that entails is moving a few pieces of lace to cover a seam or changing a zipper back closure to a corset back.

One important thing to keep in mind when these things happen is that the cost of alterations will most likely go up a bit.  The more labor intensive the project, the more the price changes.  But remember, you are paying these knowledgeable people to make that wedding dress into YOUR wedding dress.  The one you imagined yourself in the moment you chose it.  By our estimation, that’s worth every penny!
